Reading time min

1. Prep your skin

To start, remove all traces of make up so that your face is perfectly bare. Use a make up remover to remove all traces of make up from your face. It will also help you remove dirt and oil from your face.

2. Wash your face

Now wet your face with warm water, then pour a scoop of Diadermine's skin-friendly facial cleanser into the palm of your hand. Gently massage your face with your fingertips, making sure you have covered all areas. Rinse your face thoroughly with cold or warm water, then pat dry with a clean towel or washcloth. Avoid washing your face excessively, as this may dry out your skin or cause irritation.

3. Wait a bit...

Now wait an hour without applying any product or touching your face.

4. Examine your skin

After an hour, pat your T-zone with a tissue. Your T-zone includes your forehead and nose. This region is called the T-zone because the bridge of your nose forms the base of the "T". The part of your forehead above your eyebrows forms the top of the "T".

5. Get more clues in the mirror

After the tissue test, examine your skin in a mirror, surrounding yourself with as much light as possible to see the details. New clues can clarify your diagnosis and help you define your skin type.

  • If you notice red spots or flakes on your face, it's probably confirmation that you have dry and/or sensitive skin.
  • If your face is shiny all over, it confirms that you probably have an oily skin type.
  • And a combination of these two skin manifestations means that you probably have combination skin.

6. Assess your pore size

Still have doubts about the nature of your skin? We understand you, we all want to be sure to use the right care to optimize the results. Another indicator is to look at the size of your pores.

  • If you have normal skin, your pores will be visible but not too large.
  • Take a few steps back from the mirror. If you can still see your pores, you have oily skin.
  • On the contrary, if your pores are not visible at all, you have dry skin.
  • If you notice several pore sizes on your face, it is probably a sign of combination skin, combining the characteristics of dry, oily and normal skin.

7. Last test: the pinch reaction

Finally, you can still get information about your skin by pinching it. If your skin wrinkles easily after applying pressure, you have dry or combination skin. If your skin remains smooth, it's a sign of an oily skin type.

A final piece of advice: don't confuse the "type" and the "condition" of your skin. Oily skin can be dehydrated: dehydration is then its "state", but this does not make it dry skin. If you have oily skin and feel tightness due to dehydration, don't go for dry skin products: they won't be suitable. This would cause your skin to suffer from an excess of rich elements and your skin would be even more radiant.

It is the equation between the type and condition of the skin that can be solved with adapted care and advice... With the advice we have just given you, you should aim right in your choice of care.

And if you still have any doubts about the nature of your skin, don't hesitate to consult your dermatologist, of course.
